What You Can Actually Do About It
Prioritize protein and nutrient-dense foods first. With less total food volume available, what you do eat matters more — lean protein, vegetables, and whole foods make a bigger nutritional difference than they would on a normal diet.
Ask about a daily multivitamin. Given how consistently intake falls below recommended levels across these studies, many clinicians view a basic multivitamin as a reasonable, low-risk safeguard for long-term GLP-1 users.
Bring it up at your prescriber visits, not just at the pharmacy. Periodic bloodwork — vitamin D, B12, and others as your doctor sees fit — can catch a developing deficiency before it causes symptoms, similar to the monitoring already standard after bariatric surgery.
Fatigue, brain fog, and low mood are common on GLP-1 medications for several reasons — reduced calorie intake alone can cause them. Don't assume a deficiency and start high-dose supplementation on your own; ask for labs first.
